Born and raised in South Carolina, with parents who teach in the fine arts, I grew up surrounded by art, music and photography.  I began drawing and painting early and recall feeling like an artist around the age of 7.

 

I think of my work as marks and gestures that are responses to my world, my community - to how people push and pull towards and away from one another.  This is a beautiful thing but sometimes labored.
